Planning & Mapping: The Core of Travellerspoint

After few month of trying different platform, I was loosing hope to find a solution that allows me to plan travel to less know places and to map my itinerary using multiple means, especially plane, ferry, train, car, motorcycle. At first I was not very enthusiastic about Travellerspoint because I though this is yet another solution that will disappoint me and to be frank the look of the platform is not among the best I have seen. Don’t be fouled, this platform is powerful, and let you do pretty much anything you might want to. You can clearly feel that Travellerspoint has been developed by travelers for travelers.

Mapping

Before my trip, I wanted to visualized my route through Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia in order to make the best logical sequence-It didn’t turned so well but this is not the app’s fault.

The interactive travel map allowed me to plot my journey, adding stops, estimated dates, and different transport methods like. I was impressed by the platform capability to exactly map bus ride to remote places, which you usually cannot find on more popular apps and that the mapping is exact and not just straight lines from one point to the other. The map’s ability to select different transport options was particularly helpful in Vietnam, where I was constantly switching between overnight trains, bus, tuk-tuks, and boats.

You have the ability to color-code different segments of your trip, mark locations, and even categorize them by type (e.g., cultural sites, nature spots, must-visit restaurants).

Travel Itinerary & Organization

I used the trip planner to keep all my travel details in one place—accommodation bookings, transportation plans, and key landmarks I wanted to visit. This feature helped me stay organized without needing multiple spreadsheets or notes scattered across different apps. With the Chrome Extension, you can bookmark web pages instantly and link them to a specific stop in a specific trip together with notes. This has proven to be particularly useful to not loose track of relevant information and without spending extra time. The planner is linked to Rome2Rio, allowing you to get itinerary options without having to leave the platform.

Another nice feature is the ability to add budget tracking if you are traveling on a budget or are simply curious about your trip expenses. For main destinations, the planner also provide accommodation, food, and points of interest recommendations. You are never alone in planning your next trip—You benefit from the experience and recommendation from the buzzing community of fellow travelers (> 1 million users worldwide).

Sharing

I was fist put off by the old fashioned and basic user interface of the built-in travel blog but similarly to the other modules of Travellerspoint, it turned out to be really powerful and rich in features. You need a bit of coding experience if you want to customize the layout of the different templates.

I have always used Facebook and Instagram  to document my travels and never used a blog before, but this became my go-to platform for documenting my trip. It has all the basic functions you might need, such as text editing, uploading photos, videos, links, embedded url. But it also offers travel-specific functions such as country, weather, temperature, travel period, and interactive travel map linkage. If you are in a rush, you also have the option to send an e-mail to your blog address and edit the post later. The blog allows to see post in chronological orders and to filter by month and countries.

I also engaged with other bloggers on the platform, receiving comments, feedback, and tips from travelers who had been to the same destinations. This interaction turned my blog from just a personal diary into an interactive travel discussion. During my 3 weeks in China, I wasn’t able to access my usual social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp, but thanks to Travellerspoint I was able to document my trip and keep my friends and family informed.

Reviewing

It was such a delight to have everything documented at the end of my trip (places, hotels, pictures, review, thoughts, and an interactive map). In the past, I would struggle to make a photo album and eventually give up or forget about to but this time I was able to create a photo album in no time. Being able to visualize my journey with the interactive map was really enjoyable and made reflecting on my past 6 months.

Being an engineer, I like numbers and statistics and Travellerspoint was up to the challenge. You can visualize overall or trip specific data such as how many kilometers/miles you made, how many countries you visited, how many days you travelled, and the percentage of your life you spent traveling. You can also visualize distance covered by transport type and how many time you went around the hearth or distance to the moon for seasoned globetrotters. You can easily export and share data and embed the customizable interactive map into any website.

Conclusion

Travellerspoint may not have the flashiest interface and have sporadic loading issues, but it more than makes up for it with its depth of functionality and traveler-focused features. From detailed trip mapping and itinerary organization to a built-in blogging platform and community-driven recommendations, it truly offers an all-in-one solution for both planning and documenting your journeys. Whether you’re a casual vacationer or a long-term backpacker, Travellerspoint provides the customization and flexibility that other platforms often lack.

After months of traveling, I found that having everything—routes, expenses, travel logs, and photos—in one place made my experience more seamless and enjoyable. The ability to visualize my journey, track my adventures, and easily share them with others turned out to be invaluable.
