Unboxing & First Impressions
True to Leica’s legendary build quality and design, the grip features a premium aluminum frame, making it feel just like a Leica TL2 camera. Attaching your phone is effortless, thanks to the MagSafe connection. The grip snapped into place with a firm hold, immediately making my phone feel more like a professional compact camera rather than just a smartphone. The rotation between portrait and landscape is smooth. The built-in two-stage shutter, the two function buttons, and the Click wheel mimic the satisfying feeling of operating a Leica.

Ergonomics & Handling
One of the biggest pain points in smartphone photography is stability and speed. Holding a flat, slippery device while trying to compose a shot can be difficult, especially in low-light conditions. Setting the aperture, shutter speed, ISO value, and autofocus is cumbersome on a smartphone and I have missed many great shots by spending too much time on it. With its ergonomic design, one-handed shotting became much easier and more comfortable, and I noticed an immediate improvement in how I framed my shots when using the lux grip.
The two stage mechanical shutter works just like a traditional camera. Halfway press to focuses the image, and full press to takes the shot. By using the two configurable FN (function) buttons and the click wheel, I have all control readily available and can take a perfect picture within seconds. These small but significant details adds an extra layer of precision and control to mobile photography that’s hard to replicate with a touchscreen. I even forgot that I was using a mobile phone and not my DSLR. For travel, street, and portrait photography, this is a game-changer and making photography feel much more intentional.
